Rev. Robert Bushey is a fifth generation resident of Kankakee County. He attended the Herscher Unit #2 School District, earned his B. A. in Religion & Philosophy from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO, earned his Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN and has served as an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for over 25 years. Rev. Bushey has served congregations in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri, been an activist leader and organizer for state and national organizations. He has worked to end racism, empower women, welcome immigrant families, build inclusive communities for LGBTQ+ persons, and by promoting healthy relationships and advocating against domestic partner violence, recognizing the intersectionality of these issues. Rev. Bushey worked to regulate high cost small dollar lending and to hold the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau accountable to consumers and to hold the Federal Reserve and lenders accountable for mortgage fraud.

Robert is married to Kelly Perotti and together they share in the lives of their four sons and enjoy kayaking in their limited free time.
